  About Us
Good evening, and welcome to the Midwest Section of the Air & Waste Management Association's website brought to you from Kansas City.

The International Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) is a non-profit technical, scientific and educational organization with more than 17,000 members in over 65 countries. Founded in 1907 and headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Association provides a forum where all viewpoints on environmental issues receive consideration.

The Midwest Section of the Air & Waste Management Association is based in Kansas City, Missouri and serves the States of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska with the exception of the metropolitan St. Louis area which is served by the Greater St. Louis Section. The Midwest Section is currently comprised of approximately 400 members and two Chapters: the Iowa Chapter and the new Nebraska Chapter.

Our goal is to make this site as useful as possible to our members and prospective members, and to provide a tool by which to keep abreast of pertinent environmental issues in the midwest. 2010 Midwest AWMA Annual Technical Conference

Save the date - this year's technical conference will be held on Wednesday, January 20th, 2010 at the Holiday Inn on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, MO. A refined agenda will be forwarded soon and registration will open shortly.

60th Annual KU Environmental Engineering Conference

The 60th Annual KU Environmental Engineering Conference is scheduled to be held on February 3, 2010, in the Kansas Union at the University of Kansas. The theme of the conference is "Designing for Sustainability." The morning plenary session will address topics of broad interest; concurrent afternoon sessions will address water supply and treatment, wastewater treatment and biosolids management, and air and waste management.

Where: Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty Street, Overland Park
Speaker: Ginevera Moore , Mid-America Regional Council
Topic: Bi-state Watershed Planning: The Brush Creek Basin Study. Ginevera, attorney and Watershed Program Manager for MARC, will highlight the collaborative partnership effort taking place in the context of the Corps of Engineers Feasibility Study for the Brush Creek Basin. The presentation will touch on successes and challenges inherent in watershed planning in general and specifically related to watershed planning in a watershed that is as unique and high-profile as the Brush Creek Basin.

Cost: $10 A&WMA members, $15 guests
